Mario Nigro – Opere

The first exhibition on Mario Nigro's multifaceted artistic career was held this year inside three of Milan's most important museums. With Leftloft, I was responsible for the creation of the visual identity of the exhibition, the cross-channel advertising campaign and the management of all the information material within the various exhibition venues.

TRUCKS!

Just a journey-based editorial project that explores the world of van lettering scattered throughout the streets of NYC. Analyzing its appearance and investigating its aesthetic, the book forms an archive of over 200 photos showcasing the most peculiar typographical compositions on the doors of the city’s most characteristic trucks.

AT02

The second edition of "Aesthetic Letters" is a retrospective on the early ways of understanding the letter as a container of images and senses, rather than a simple conveyance of meaning. In the late Middle Ages, the letter takes on its own artistic form. The book maps out a timeline, tracing increasingly daring experiments until the breaking point, where the letter becomes a pure artistic medium, detached from any formal need for reading.

The book contains two years of personal field research, unpublished images, and insights into unknown artists.

Pirelli Hangar Bicocca

As a member of Leftloft, I had the pleasure of working for almost two years with the substantial entity of Pirelli Hangar Bicocca: one of the most important venues dedicated to contemporary art in Milan. During this time, I developed the graphic identity of the institution, contributing to the launch of new artistic programs and various exhibitions. Additionally, I participated in the design of the space's signage, both by creating printed exhibition maps and by formulating panels and tangible signage within the space.

Studio DEMADA

Demada is a young industrial and product design studio based in Milan. Their need was to communicate authority but detach themselves from contemporary taste and competitors. The result is an identity that looks to the past with respect, using its gaze to project into the future. Along with the logotype, I’ve designed a typeface to be used for every asset: Demada Sans.

Rolling Stone Magazine

I had the privilege of working for Rolling Stone Magazine Italia, where I was asked to participate in the art direction of some digital covers. As a typography enthusiast, I focused on designing lettering that reflected the personality featured on the cover. In addition to the digital covers, I also designed the latest physical edition.

Tomás Saraceno - Life(s) of Webs

I had the privilege of designing the communication for the exhibition Web(s) of Life, by Tomás Saraceno.
At Palazzo Lanfranchi, in the heart of Matera now stands a confessional where instead of a priest, spider webs appear to be contemplated in their ancestral wisdom. A site-specific work that, in the Matera National Museum, needed to be enhanced by coherent communication.

Exhale - A glance on Milan’s Atmosphere

One of the major solo projects I carried out this year is Exhale, a Glance on Milan’s Atmosphere: a Data Sculpture project that transforms the data concerning the atmosphere in Milan into a dynamic visual output. The result is a three-dimensional video that changes according to the evolution of selected parameters, creating a dynamic and artistic representation of air pollution in Milan. I aimed to raise awareness about the air pollution in Milan. Additionally, I analyzed the air in an Italian mountain town renowned for its clean air and created a visual comparison. The contrast was striking.

The intent is to break down the boundary between design and art, creating a multimedia work that is abstract and introspective like art, yet at the same time, comprehensible and concrete. The output is a 13-minute data sculpture, one of the most interesting forms of informational art.
